SPX Corp makes offer for Custos
SPX Corp today has commenced a tender offer to acquire all the shares of Aktiebolaget Custos
(publ) for US$155.3 million. Custos, the parent company of Johnson Pump, is a publicly traded Swedish company
with annual revenues exceeding US$105 million. Custos manufactures and markets products
including pumps for industrial and marine markets and aerator filters and regulators for the
HVAC heating and plumbing market. SPX intends for Custos to operate within the SPX Flow
Technology segment.
"Custos’ products represent an attractive complement to the products and brands in our
Flow Technology segment”, said Don Canterna, segment president. “The combined business
will benefit from economies of scale through a combined European infrastructure, a well
established sales network across the combined product portfolio, increased operating efficiencies
and combined R&D and new product programs to accelerate growth. We believe this acquisition
will allow us to further expand our presence in Europe and continue to extend our customer
base.”
