Food-safe pump hoses from Watson-Marlow

Hoses in Bioprene, a proprietary high-grade thermoplastic material, are now available for use with Watson-Marlow Bredel SPX hose pumps.

Bioprene is a beige material which is safe for use in food production for aqueous foods, and offers an exceptionally long life, the company says. The material has a higher shore rating than the Bioprene which has been in use in lower pressure Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps for a number of years.

The new hose material is available for Bredel SPX40 and 50mm pumps with flow rates up to 8,750 litre/hr and has the strengths and chemical compatibility of natural rubber. Bioprene hoses need no reinforcement and can be used at pressures up to 3.5 bar. They can be cleaned with all normal cleaning agents, including those with a nitric acid base, without detrimental effect. This is particularly valuable in conjunction with the clean-in-place facility offered by Bredel pumps with retractable shoes.
