PCM launches eco-designed pump
PCM has completed its range of positive displacement pumps with the launch of the Ecolobe pump, the company's first eco-designed lobe pump for heavy-duty industrial applications.
Eco-design aims to minimize the environmental impact of a product during its entire lifecycle and eco-designed pumps can help customers prepare in advance for increasingly strict environmental regulations. It can also help overcome the shortcomings of traditional lobe pumps, including frequent and costly servicing and fluid contamination, the company says. For example, Ecolobe has been designed without an oil chamber to eliminate the risk of the pumped fluids being contaminated by lubricating oil.

The body design has also eliminated or repositioned the plate fasteners to solve the problem of lobe failure caused by the lobe rubbing against access plate fasteners. Th pump design eco-design also includes improved shaft reliability and easier rotor synchronization.
The pump has a maximum flow rate of 525m3/h and maximum pressure of 10 bars. It can work up to 90°C and is suitable for industrial applications requiring a pump that can handle liquids containing solids, with a pulsation-free pumping action to avoid shearing.
