Promoting systems thinking around the world
On Wednesday 7 November, World Pumps, in partnership with ITT will be hosting an on-line live seminar entitled 'Promoting system thinking around the world'.
Two top pump industry experts, Gunnar Hovstadius and Bob Went, will each be giving a 20 minute live presentation, which will be followed by a question and answer session.
The total running time will be one hour. The seminar begins at 10.00 US EST (15.00 UK GMT) on this website, and anybody wishing to listen in and participate has to log-on and register in advance of the event.
Registration is a simple process and you will be able to do this anytime from 8 October onwards. We are also happy to accept questions in advance of the event and these should be sent to the editor of World Pumps, Alan Burrows, at a.burrows@elsevier.com
Our guest speakers are Bob Went and Dr. Gunnar Hovstadius. Bob Went has worked in the UK water industry for almost 40 years and was the Principal Mechanical Engineer for Thames Water until 2003, when he joined ITT Flygt Ltd as Group Consultant. Bob is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and was chairman of the Pump Centre for 10 years. Bob pioneered the introduction of the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) approach to pump procurement in the UK water industry.
Dr. Gunnar Hovstadius has more than thirty years of experience in Engineering and Technology management. Most recently he served as Director of Technology for ITT Fluid Technology (ITT FT) . He was responsible for establishing cooperation between US Department of Energy's, ITT and the Hydraulic Institute (HI). Dr. Hovstadius has further served as the Chairman of the HI Standards Committee and was Chairman of HI's Life Cycle Cost Committee till 2004. He also served as the US representative in a HI/Euro Pump working group on Variable Speed Driven Pumping Systems.
