Pumps & Valves 2006 preview

This year's Pumps & Valves, which takes place from 18-20 October in Antwerp , Belgium, is the biggest yet. In a special online preview, www.worldpumps.com takes a look at some key products that will be on display.

Over 180 exhibitors from Belgium and abroad have confirmed their participation at Pumps & Valves 2006, and to provide adequate space for everyone in the Antwerp Expo, the event's organiser, Fairtec, has had to extend the stand surface by 16%.

The trade fair, which covers industrial pumps, control valves, shut-off valves, services and accessories attracts 5000 visitors from the most important sectors of the industry and has become a major information forum for all those dealing with pumps, control valves and shut-off valves on a daily basis.

Fairtech has made it possible for visitors to the Pumps & Valves trade show to access to a maximum amount of information in the shortest possible time by holding what it calls the 'Maintenance Circuit', in which eleven exhibitors give presentations on their products with test set-ups, demonstrations, competitions and video clips.

This year for the first time the organisers will also provide 'Pumps & Valves Techno Training', a seminar programme designed to give visitors brief technological updates and discuss topical bottlenecks, new regulations and innovations.

Here is a brief look at the products some of the exhibitors will be showcasing at Pumps & Valves 2006.

Asco Joumatic's pressure operated valve.

Asco Joumatic
Stand number: 2330

Asco Joumatic plans to showcase its 2/2 pressure operated valve with ISO 15218/CNOMO size 15 interface. According to Asco Joumatic, the company's angle body valve with its 32 mm valve operator is already the smallest on the market. Now it has been provided with an ISO 15218/CNOMO size 15 interface with an 'in-line' pilot valve, the 290 series is a complete solution with an unprecedented compactness.

It is easy to install and energy-efficient (a mere 2 W). For the pilot, the user has a wide choice of electrical DIN connectors (9.4 mm, or 8 mm), M12 connectors (communication via field bus) or flying leads, with or without a LED display and integrated electrical protection.

Packo
Stand number: 2425

Stainless steel specialist Packo will exhibit its new stainless steel Cip return pump, the Crp series designed for the food and pharmaceutical. The pump range contains 10 models with flows to 170 m³/h and heads to 7.5 bar.

The company will also exhibit its BOA Rotary lobe pump LPR series for food industries. The pump range contains 9 models with flows up to 100 m³/h and heads up to 15 bar. At present a further extension up to 250 m³/h is being developed.

The pump has a robust construction, with very large shafts in duplex, taper roller bearings and a short distance between the lobes and the first bearing, the company says. The pump has been designed with no blind spots and is EHEDG certified.

The BOA-LPR-series are highly suited for pumping viscous media and fluids which are shear sensitive. For this, several lobe types can be used, dependent on the physical characteristics of the pumped fluids.

Pepperl+Fuchs' range of positioners.

Pepperl+Fuchs
Stand number: 3200

Pepperl+Fuchs will be showcasing its range of positioners used for monitoring the position of armatures and valves that combine two devices in a single housing to form a dual sensor. Pepperl+Fuchs has an extensive line of sensors and actuating elements that are approved for hazardous areas. Sensors for installation in the classical box as well as sensors for direct mounting on the actuator are also available.

Pepperl+Fuchs will also be showcasing its sensors for 2-or 3 wire DC, AS-Interface, AC/DC and Namur (Atex). The wiring can be with connector (M12 or M18), via cable, or even with a terminal compartment. The solenoid valve can be wired directly via the sensor.

Alfa Laval's SaniJet.

Lameco
Stand number: 4440

Lameco will be exhibiting a number of pumps, including Finish Thompson's range of powered, portable drum pumps designed to provide safe and easy transfer of a wide range of fluids including difficult to handle liquids such as acids, bases and solvents, and Alfa Laval's SaniJet 25 cleaning device, which is reportedly the first ever dynamic tank cleaning machine to receive an EHEDG certificate. It is suitable for use in fermentation, mixing, processing and storage tanks and vessels from 15 and 150 m³ . The SaniJet 25 is especially suitable for cleaning applications of highly viscous, foaming or thrixotropic products and applications where reproducible and high standard cleaning results are required, Lameco says.

Autoclude's Loading Pump.

Lameco will also be exhibiting Autoclude's New Easy Tube Loading Pump designed specifically for applications for which the loading of the tubing into the pumphead needs to be effected quickly and simply without the use of any tools. A major feature of the new pump design is its ability to have additional heads stacked onto a single drive unit enabling multi-channel pumping from a single drive, the company says.

Pump type CNP/CNPF - horizontal design.

Hermetic
Stand number: 3150

Hermetic plans to exhibit its range of canned motor pumps that meet an API specification. This new series consists of a single-stage pump hydraulic according to API 610 - 10th edition, which is combined with the reliable canned motor technology according to API 685. Centerline pump installation, both horizontally and vertically mounted, is also part of the standard design as the obligatory heavy duty design with its flanges execution according to ANSI 300 lbs - RF.

Georg Fischer
Stand number: 2160

George Fischer is exhibiting a selection of its ball valves, including the +GF+ ball valve type 546 range which in 2007 will be extended with dimensions d75, d90 and d110 mm using materials such as PVC-U, PVC-C and ABS. The company will also be showcasing its butterfly valve +GF+ 567 which is available in different plastic materials from DN50 up to DN300. The dimensions DN250 and DN300 will be available at the beginning of 2007. The double excentric butterfly valve type 567 reportedly shows an optimised movement of the disc, with very little friction and less wear.

Danfoss's range of high pressure pumps.

Danfoss
Stand number: 1638

Danfoss plans to exhibit its Nessie® PAH and APP high pressure pumps that have volumetric efficiency up to 96% and compact and direct drive (no belt drive) pumps.

The PAH Series are made in AISI 304 and the APP series are made of Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel. They can pump fluids including tap water, demineralised water, desalinated water, brackish water, sea water, water in oil emulsions, kerosene, glycols and other low viscosity fluids on demand.

The company will also be showcasing its VDHT solenoid valves made in stainless steel AISI 304 designed for applications in neutral and most aggressive media with pressure conditions up to 210 bar. The VDHT pilot operated seat valves, due to the special soft seal principle, ensures a 'leak free' operation even if the low viscosity fluid contains many large particles.

XOMOX's valves with PTFE seal.

XOMOX
Stand number: 3450B

XOMOX will exhibit a full rated PN 16 valve design with a PTFE atmosphere seal that protects the top seal components from atmospheric corrosion. Together with the extended body lining and the triple Viton sealing rings there is an optimum of safety against atmospheric leakage. The new design results in minimum maintenance and life-time costs, the company says.

Techno Training courses will take place during the exhibition. They will run as follows:

Thursday 14.00 15.00
Air or liquid cooled motors: A correct choice prolongs the life time of your (immerged) pump.
