Metering pump for antimicrobial treatment
Watson-Marlow Bredel has launched the 520 Series, a peristaltic pump for the handling of antimicrobial treatment chemicals such as monochloramine and sodium hypochlorite. Suitable for use in the food waste sector, the combination of tube elements and pumphead design allows the 520 Series to be utilized in the accurate metering, dosing and transferring of these chemicals, often used to reduce microbial populations in sterilized chiller water found in poultry processing facilities and other areas of the food industry.
The pump can process entrained gas, often generated by the hypo, eliminating the occurrence of vapour locking that prevents conventional pumps from functioning properly, the company says. The 520 Series also contain fluids within the tube at all times and never allows the monochloramine and sodium hypochlorite to come into contact with the pump mechanism, ensuring dependable, accurate fluid handling. This helps provide predictable life costs for the pump as the tube is the only part that will need replacing.
