Flowserve wins contract for Chinese nuclear plants

Flowserve Corporation has been selected to provide concrete volute pumps for the first phases of both the Hongyanhe and Ningde Nuclear Power Plant projects in China.

The order is estimated to be worth between US$25 million and US$30 million.

China plans to significantly increase the country's installed nuclear power to approximately 4% of the country's total installed capacity by 2020. To reach this goal, China must build about 32 nuclear power units of the size of the planned Hongyanhe and Ningde projects in the next 15 years, according to the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission.

Hongyanhe is the first nuclear power project to be built in northeast China and is located in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. A total of six generating units are planned for the site, which will be constructed in several phases. The Ningde nuclear power project is located in Qinyu Town, Ningde City, Fujian Province. This plant will have six units that will be constructed in three phases.
