KSB supplies giant water pump to steel mill

The KSB Group has supplied one of the largest water pumps incorporating an axially split casing ever built to a steel mill in Linz, Austria.

The vertically installed pump set, which weighs a total of 13 metric tons delivers cooling water at a rate of more than 3,300 litres per second. The discharge head is around 17 m.

The pump conveys cooling water through a newly built, one metre thick pipeline to the company-owned power station in the event of a malfunction, and thus plays an important part in improving reliability of supply, KSB says.
