Franklin Electric acquires pump division

Franklin Electric, the world's largest manufacturer of submersible electric motors, has acquired the pump division of Canada-based Monarch Industries Limited. Franklin Electric expects the transaction to be accretive to its earnings per share in the first year of ownership. Monarch's pump division revenues for 2006 were approximately US$30 million.

"The Monarch acquisition is an excellent strategic fit for Franklin," said R. Scott Trumbull, chairman and CEO of Franklin Electric. "It will incrementally expand both our product line and distribution coverage in the North American market."

Monarch is a manufacturer of water, sewage, sump, and hand pumps. It also makes compact electric motor driven utility pumps for pressure boosting, hydraulic cylinders; raw and machined iron castings and residential cement mixers.
