Internet-based pump station monitoring
Siemens Water Technologies has developed a cellular and internet-based monitoring and control system for the North American market. The system, called Link2Site, uses national cellular networks to remotely control, monitor and enhance pumping and lift station equipment and facilities. The system provides a easy-to-install and fully functional SCADA solution.
The system uses advanced pump station performance algorithms as standard which allow for pump station performance optimization, making it possible for users to monitor pump performance over time and helping predict pump station failure before it occurs. The system also offers multiple methods of volumetric flow calculation for the station or individual pumps to assist with performance analysis.
Users can securely connect to the system from anywhere with an internet connection via user-entered passwords or electronic key-reader technology. A user-friendly operator interface accessed through a web browser has the same functionality of traditional solutions such as pump start and stop setpoint adjustment, remote “on/off” control, and alarm setpoint adjustment.
The Link2Site system also includes a variety of flexible service plans to meet users’ individual system needs, such as alarm monitoring, which provides immediate alarm notification via email, pager, a phone call, or all three and advanced callout scheduling functionality, which ensures that the appropriate person is called in the event of a system alarm. Alarms can be acknowledged either by phone or by computer.
