Selwood wins award for flood pumping
Selwood Pumps has been presented with an award by Severn Trent to honour Selwood Pumps for their outstanding contribution to pumping in the Gloucester, UK flooding in 2007.
Selwood has a CPA agreement with Severn Trent and was heavily involved in supplying pumps over several weeks during the floods. A variety of pumps were used from 8 inch diesel pumps to small hydraulic pumps and included a range of the company's environmentally friendly super silent pumps.
"The weather patterns in the UK have certainly changed over recent years with far more concentrated periods of rainfall," Peter Manley, marketing manager at Selwood, told www.worldpumps.com.
"This, combined with continual development, often in flood plains, puts a strain on the UK water infrastructure [.] With the largest fleet of pumps in the UK and supply contracts in place with the majority of UK water companies and their contractors, Selwood is ideally placed to respond to any future requirements."
