China wastewater growth pushes Grundfos expansion
A growing need for wastewater products in China has led Grundfos Pumps to expand its Chinese operations with the addition of a new production facility for the manufacture of large wastewater pumps in Suzhou.
With many municipalities upgrading their infrastructure to meet recent demands, there are plans to build 100 new wastewater treatment plants in China each year until 2010, the company says. Grundfos expect to triple its sales turnover in the region in the next five years with this new factory being just one aspect of a longer-term strategic plan.
The new factory, which will be fully operational in 2008, will supply a range of models including SuperVortex and channel-impeller pumps. It will also incorporate a new customer service unit and a research and development team who will look into developing solutions to improve wastewater management globally.
