50th anniversary for Metropolitan

Metropolitan Industries, Inc, a national OEM manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor for the commercial, industrial, municipal and residential pump and control markets has celebrated its 50th year in business.

The company has grown from a start-up company working out of a home to a company with over 120 employees 50 years later. Over the years it has acquired 20+ patents over the years that deal with variable speed controls, battery back-up systems and pumping technology.

"In the next 50 years, we plan on expanding our manufacturing facilities, engineering department, spend extensive money on research and development. Our research and development department will be expanded so we can stay on the cutting edge of product design. I believe the future belongs to the companies that can provide state-of-the-art products and provide complete application engineering to the customer," John Kochan, Sr., founder and chairman of Metropolitan Industries told www.worldpumps.com.

"Things have changed in the last 50 years - you cannot just be a pump manufacturer anymore," he added. "Companies need to manufacture both the pumps and the controls together to offer a complete package. Pump operation is more sophisticated, pump life is longer and reducing energy operating costs has become key."
