Ten main players have half of pumps market
Ten companies accounted for 50% of the total world pumps market in 2006, says McIlvaine's Pumps: World Markets report. The US$29 billion market was led by ITT, with US$2,741 million in pump sales, followed by Ebara, Grundfos, Flowserve, Sulzer, Weir, KSB, Wilo, Roper Industries, and Putzmeister.
Besides these main players, Asian pump suppliers are rising in the rankings, the report suggests, with one Chinese and one Indian company in the top 30 with many new Chinese companies have entered the market in recent years.
The world market according to McIlvaine will grow to US$37 billion in 2011. Contributing to this growth will be purchases in China for municipal wastewater treatment, drinking water, chemical, iron and steel manufacturing.
