Eight Aker Wirth pumps will be used as tube digester pumps in the Bayer process to pump the bauxite ore at a temperature of around 100°C. The other three pumps will pump red mud to the disposal site.
Each individual Aker Wirth pump is driven by a 1500 kW motor and has a total weight of approximately 105 000 kg.
The pumps have a delivery period of 11–16 months.
Brisbane, Australia-based WorleyParsons Fluor is responsible for the entire project engineering, along with the construction of the facility in Saudi Arabia.
