The company was performing the search as part of its ‘Oldest Pump Contest’, designed to commemorate the centenary year of Kirloskarvadi manufacturing plant. KBL received more than 200 entries qualifying the terms and conditions of the contest.
The winnders of the context included SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited), Durgapur (West Bengal), which runs a pump installed in 1960, and West Coast Paper Mills Limited, Dandeli (Karnataka) where the pump was installed in 1965.
Both these pumps are UP models, the most popular horizontal split case pumps manufactured in the Kirloskarvadi plant.
