This challenge is seeking teams with novel engineered surfaces and coatings—or technologies that enable the scalable deployment of such surfaces and coatings—to improve energy efficiency in the petroleum and chemical processing industries.
The areas of interest broadly include: new material formulations, manufacturing methods, deposition techniques, and other innovations that can achieve significant improvements in energy efficiency. Teams working on advanced surface technologies are encouraged to apply, and selected teams will receive up to $100,000 in prototyping, demonstration, or validation services from the world-renowned Fraunhofer R&D network.
