The first CE Marking guidance course, organised by the BPMA in July, was a great success, according to both members and non-members who attended.
CE marking, applied by the manufacturer, confirms that a product conforms to the applicable European directive. Although CE marking is compulsory in the UK, non-compliant pumping equipment remains a major problem.
All companies that build pumping equipment and who sell products in the UK or to European markets must be able to demonstrate the products meet applicable EU requirements, are correctly CE marked and are placed on the market with the correct Declaration of Conformity.
Concerned that many companies still do not meet these obligations, the BPMA specifically developed this training course to help address this key issue. It provides the information and skills required to understand Self Certification CE Marking essentials and meet requirements for compliance.
Course leader, Gary Wilde, technical services officer at the BPMA, said it is important for companies to understand what’s required to correctly place their products on the market. Following the popularity of the course, a second session will take place on 1 October at the BPMA offices in West Bromwich.
