“Pumps are essential machines but silent workers in running a plant. The Pump Appreciation Day is an annual event to celebrate the importance of pumps and to recognize the people and organisations that design, manufacture, install and service them,” said Aris Chicles, president of ITT’s Industrial Process business. “We also take the opportunity to pay tribute to the men, women and organisations that help drive modern manufacturing forward.”
Four organisations were presented with the Heart of Industry Award, which recognises companies or plants whose operational excellence and use of pump technology advance plant processing, customer service and our overall way of life through improved reliability and efficiency, and lower cost of ownership. Three people were also named to the Pulse of Industry Honor Roll, an individual recognition program to commend pump professionals for their exceptional work in pump operations, maintenance or process optimisation.
This year’s online World of Pumps Quiz, which tests participants’ knowledge of the pump industry and its products, attracted more than 7500 unique visitors from 164 countries in the months leading up to Pump Appreciation Day.
