Weir Minerals integrates Delta Industrial valves into St Louis facility

Weir Minerals has completed the integration of Delta Industrial™ valves manufacturing operations into its state-of-the-art facility in St Louis, Missouri, USA.

Before the integration, the St Louis facility solely manufactured Lewis® pumps and valves.

The strategic decision was made to relocate the manufacturing of Delta Industrial valves to help accelerate the growth of both brands, increase production and streamline processes.

“Integrating two large brands and multiple product lines is no easy task, and during the transition we built up a backlog of orders which we had to address,” said Grant Ramsden, managing director of the St Louis facility. “Our team worked tirelessly to overcome these challenges, and we are now pleased to announce that we have cleared the backlog and have stringent processes in place to ensure we continue to deliver to our customers around the world on time, without sacrificing on quality.”

Ramsden said that they have optimised the supply chain to deliver what their customers want, when they want it. “We did this by increasing shifts to three per day and hired more staff to ensure we could create our products in a timely manner. In addition, we addressed supplier constraints, expanded our manufacturing space by 5000 square feet, and increased our warehouse space by 15 000 square feet.”

Along with expanding manufacturing operations, Weir Minerals has added a team of 24 valve specialists around the globe.

“Our team is made up of valve experts who are strategically located nearby customers’ sites. The team is deeply embedded in our customers’ operations to better understand their challenges and help them meet their objectives,” said John Abbott, Weir Minerals’ Global Product Manager for Valves. “From the St Louis facility, we now have the ability to utilise customer insights to further develop materials technology and expand the product line.”
