The Swiss engineering company signed an agreement in February 2014 to acquire a 75% stake in Riyadh-based Saudi Pump Factory.
The joint venture will trade under the new name of Sulzer Saudi Pump Company. It will be the first complete manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia for a global pump manufacturer of API pumps.
Saudi Pump Factory has 170 employees and achieved sales of approximately CHF23 million in 2014. The 25 000 m² facility in Riyadh produces centrifugal pumps to API and ASME standards and will be part of Sulzer’s global manufacturing network. A pump test facility is also available to test and confirm the highest product standard.
The joint venture is in line with Sulzer’s focus on the oil and gas, power and water markets. It will enable the Swiss group to serve its Saudi Arabian and Gulf Cooperation Council customers with products to Sulzer standards from a local base.
Sulzer will also offer a full range of aftermarket services for all Sulzer and Saudi Pump Factory products including repairs, spare parts, and retrofit solutions.
