Quattroflow QF-150 biotech pumps

Quattroflow, a brand of positive displacement quaternary diaphragm pumps from Almatec Maschinenbau, part of Dover Corporation’s Pump Solutions Group (PSG), recently took part in the BioProcess International (BPI) Conference & Exhibition, which was held from 8-11 October at the Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI, US.

At the show, Quattroflow teamed up with Bio-Rad Laboratories, which supplies chromatography equipment and technologies to the life-science research, clinical diagnostics and biopharmaceutical purification markets.

On display at the Bio Rad stand was its process chromatography skid 00. Which, the company claims, is the industry’s first compact skid designed for small-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing, optimizing valuable clean room space and processing time.

Process engineers can select either pre-programmed or manual methods for all functions of the process skid, using the wireless tablet PC. In combination with the chromatography station it aims to simplify column preparation from slurry transfer, packing, unpacking and cleaning for all functions of the process chromatography column and process skid 00. This enables customers to automate these processes with reproducible and traceable results.

A major component in the Bio-Rad process chromatography systems on display was a Quattroflow QF-150 Series Biotech Pump. QF-150. Quattroflow claim that these pumps are well suited for this application because they offer unique capabilities to the system and contribute towards a solution for the chromatography purification process.

Important fluid-transfer needs are met through the QF-150’s controlled low-pulsation flow for stable process control, low-shear operation for delicate product and media handling, and high turn-up/down capability for scaleability.
