KSB at SMM 2014 in Hamburg

The KSB Group will be presenting its Salino Pressure Center at SMM 2014, the international marine technology fair in Hamburg.
The KSB Group will be presenting its Salino Pressure Center at SMM 2014, the international marine technology fair in Hamburg.

KSB will be providing information on its pumps and valves as well as control and monitoring systems designed for applications on board different vessel types and for offshore applications. These range from liquefied gas tankers, cargo vessels and suction dredgers to passenger ships and offshore platforms.

Alongside KSB AG’s energy-saving, high-pressure and standardised pumps showcased at this year’s Hamburg trade show, an impressive pump manufactured by KSB Itur Spain S.A. for use with various on-board applications will be on display as an example of its comprehensive marine range. KSB's US American subsidiary, GIW, will present one of its slurry pumps which are employed on suction dredgers all over the world to ensure that waterways are kept free for shipping.

Space-saving design

Thanks to its space-saving design, the exhibited UPA-type submersible borehole pump is increasingly used for offshore wind turbines and transformer stations. Its robust design makes for long service intervals. It can be used in fire-fighting systems, pressure booster and cleaning systems as well as for seawater extraction.

Interested visitors will also have the opportunity to find out about KSB Group’s latest developments in the field of ballast water treatment, a topic which is becoming increasingly important all over the world.

French Group member, KSB S.A.S., will showcase maintenance-free triple-offset butterfly valves for liquefied gas transport (LNG). Designed for operating pressures of up to 100 bar, these valves are capable of handling fluids with temperatures ranging from -250 to +200 degrees Celsius depending on their properties. Thanks to their special design, the closing torque is lower than that of double-offset disc valve types, which makes them suitable for use with smaller actuators. For this kind of butterfly valve, a wide range of actuators such as quarter-turn actuators made by Korean Group company KSB Seil is available. These actuators are specially designed to sustain rough conditions at sea. The fair will take place from 9 to 12 September 2014.
