The KSB pump units included seven process pumps for pumping thermal oil at a drive rating of up to 315 kW, and four canned motor pumps with a maximum 45 kW rating. All the units were built to American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and specifications.

The pumps perform a number of tasks at the concentrated solar power (CSP) power plant, including the daily start-up of the solar field, controlling the level of the thermal oil at temperatures of up to 400 °C, protecting the solar field from freezing and overheating, and cleaning the oil.

The power plant will be commissioned at the end of 2013.
