  • Dosing pumps for sealing compounds
The additives present in many modern sealing compounds, can be quite abrasive, and finding a dosing pump that can handle them without problems is more of a challenge than it used to be. However, there are reliable non-damaging solutions using a range of pump types.

Positive displacement pumps are still the preferred choice for metering highly corrosive and caustic chemicals. However, when it comes to reducing life-cycle costs, Chuck Treutel, P. The performance and cost effectiveness of many portable medical devices can be enhanced by tailoring miniature diaphragm pumps and solenoid valves to meet system requirements. Dan Schimelman of Hargraves Technology examines the issues together with recent advances in fluidic components.

Mining salt often leaves caverns that have to be filled to stabilize them once extracted. One method is to fill these caverns with tailings produced during the salt purification process. A hydraulic, quadruple-action piston membrane pump, ideally suited for abrasive liquid media, from ABEL was found to be the best solution to transport the packing from the hopper into the mine via a pipeline.

ProMinent hose pumps suit range of duties

16 June 2010

ProMinent has launched new hose pumps with low, medium and high flow rates for laboratory and industrial applications.

The hose pumps from ProMinent have flow rates from 17 - 25 000 l/h and are available in wide range of hose materials. For low pressures of up to 8 bar the pumps are fitted with roller technology, while for higher pressures of up to 16 bar they have shoes with lubrication.

The pumps feature low-impact material transport, dry priming and the transport of viscous and abrasive materials. The material only comes into contact with the hose and may be liquid or gaseous in consistency. Because of the low-impact nature of the design, even shear-sensitive products can be transported without a problem.
