Allweiler providing fuel pumps adapted for use with new low-sulphur diesel oil

17 June 2010

Allweiler uses an analytical programme, which shows conversion options or suitable replacements for pumps which are already in service in ships.

National and international regulations now require low-sulfur fuels, especially in coastal areas and while ships are in port. Allweiler is offering special pumps designed for use with these new fuels. Many previously installed Allweiler pumps can be retrofitted for use with the new viscosities. Allweiler technicians use ‘Allweiler Fuel Oil Check’ for each ship to determine whether the current pump is operating within its limits. If the pump is no longer capable of handling the operating conditions, Allweiler can recommend a conversion kit or replacement pump.

Arne Forslund, an Allweiler board member and senior vice president for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, said: “The new or modified Marine pumps from Allweiler enable shipowners and shipyards to comply with all current and previously announced environmental regulations.”
