  • Installing ABS irrigation schemes in Kenya
Long-term water shortages and an aging infrastructure system mean Kenya is in need of new water supply facilities. Local institutions came together to begin the refurbishment and reinstallation of effective pumping systems, beginning with a rice irrigation scheme. After ABS replaced worn out submersible water pumps, an increase in rice production was noted.
  • Saving energy at a recirculation plant
A sewage treatment plant in Denmark needed to rebuild four process tanks to reduce energy consumption. A cost-effective solution was chosen which involved the installation of one propeller mixer in each tank. After two months of operation, anticipated energy savings at the plant were met and exceeded.
  • Green water delivery for Winter Olympics
The organisers of this year's Winter Olympic Games demanded as much from its water infrastructure as did its competitors. A reliable, environmentally friendly water solution was required, which would remain viable long after the games had ended. This goal was achieved with the installation of a range of energy and space saving solutions.
  • On demand district heating cuts costs
Refurbishing an ageing district heating system in Constanta, Romania using new hot-water recirculation pumps, associated variable speed drives and other controls in a demand-based arrangement, has resulted in an improved supply quality, plus an optimized, energy-efficient operation – all with greater reliability.
  • Using active front end drives – substance or spin?
AC drives are increasingly common in pumping applications. However, their operation produces harmonic currents, which can have a number of detrimental effects on system performance. Ian C Evans of Harmonic Solutions considers the role of active front end drives in harmonic mitigation.

MZT Pumpi delivers pumps to Serbia and Macedonia

26 July 2010

Macedonia’s MZT Pumpi has produced five pumpsets for the Serbian heating utility company Beogradske Elektrane.

The MZT Pumpi pumpsets will be installed in Belgrade’s heating system in order to improve the transport of hot water to individual homes in the city.

MZT Pumpi has also produced and installed three booster sets for a pumping station in the Buchim mine in Radovish, Macedonia. The booster sets were installed to protect the environment from the polluted water that is generated by the mine.

Additionally, MZT Pumpi, in consortium with Euroing Gevgelija, produced and installed a booster set for the client UNDP also for the Buchim mine. These pumps are part of the system for irrigation and fugitive dust control of the tailings dam.
