A brief history of pumps
Ten years ago, World Pumps put together a brief history of the pump industry telling the story of pump development since the Egyptians invented the ‘shadoof’ in 200BC. We stopped then at 1999, but here we bring the story right up to date with some of the main industry events of recent times.

Gorman–Rupp to acquire National Pump Company

The Gorman-Rupp Co is planning to acquire National Pump Company LLC, the Glendale, Arizona headquartered manufacturer of vertical turbine line shaft pumps, submersible pumps, centrifugal pumps, high pressure booster pumps and packaged pump station systems.

Founded in 1969, National Pump had revenues of approximately US$33 million in 2009.

Roger Jeschke, president and CEO of National Pump, and Allen Hobratschk, vice president and COO, will remain with National Pump after Gorman-Rupp has completed the acquisition.
