New range of pumps for high-pressure extrusion

01 April 2011

Maag has improved its trudex series of gear pumps for high-pressure extrusion.

The new generation features a new gear geometry which can improve efficiency, and a modified pump bearing which could increase emergency running.

The company says that these pumps have been developed as a response to increased demand for gear pumps designed for high-pressure applications involving highly complex processes, such as the modern foam processing used for materials-efficient foam pipes as well as blow film processes. The use of modern filter equipment for ultraclean plastics also requires increasingly high pressure levels during extrusion.
Currently, extrusion equipment works with operating pressures of >120 bar, and the pressure at the tool itself is even as high as >400 bar.
The pumps are available with various tempering options, and Maag also offers special configuration of the pump to match a specific customer requirement profile as an optional service.
