Energy Recovery pumps selected for desalination plant in Bahamas

10 May 2011

Consolidated Water Co will use Energy Recovery Inc’s PX Pressure Exchanger devices and AquaBold pumps for a major expansion of the Bahamas Water and Sewerage Corp’s Blue Hills large-scale seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) project.

Energy Recovery’s devices will reduce the energy and costs required to produce drinking water.

The expanded Blue Hills desalination plant, which was originally built about six years ago with competing energy recovery devices and high pressure pumps, will provide 18 500 cubic meters, or about 4.9 million gallons per day, of clean, safe and affordable drinking water to the inhabitants of New Providence island.
