  • Pumps as turbines in the water industry
Running pumps as turbines is a well-known concept in the water supply industry. It is seen as an efficient method of generating power as well as recovering energy and contributing to savings. The payback period can be as short as three years and there is the added benefit that pumps are less complicated to operate than turbines. Bryan Orchard reports.

Syringe pump has infusion and withdrawal capabilities

22 September 2009

New Era Pump Systems has introduced the NE-4000 Double syringe pump, which includes both infusion and withdrawal capabilities with delivery of nanolitre, microlitre and milliliter flow rates.

The NE-4000 is part of the member of the NE-1000 family of pumps. It infuses and withdraws two different sized syringes simultaneously, up to 60 ml.

The NE-4000 can dispense continuously at a fixed pumping rate as low as 1 nanolitre/hr with a .5 uL syringe or up to as 127.3 ml/min with a 60 mL syringe.
The NE-4000 syringe pump can program up to 41 pumping phases that change pumping rates, set dispensing volumes, insert pauses, control and respond to external signals, sound an alarm.
