Landia 9HP chopper pumps copes with clinical waste

18 November 2009

Waste from a nursing home in the City of Hesston Kansas was continually blocking three ‘non-clog’ pumps at the adjacent site which struggled to macerate incontinence pads and wipes until they were replaced with the 9HP chopper pumps.

The two Landia 9HP pumps are in use for an average of just four hours per week per pump which gives an energy saving of 47% compared to the previous pumps. The lower running time is due to the fact that the 9HP Landia pumps macerate and pump the incontinence pads, underwear and other debris instead of getting clogged up by them.

Kyle Headrick, WWTP Superintendent at the City of Hesston, said: “The Landia pumps completely solved our problems and I am extremely happy with them. We were pulling and unclogging our old pumps anywhere from three times per week up to three times per day and we have not been called to the station since we put in the Landia Chopper Pumps.”
