  • Energy savings for hydraulic systems
A European steel manufacturer wanted to see how significant energy savings could be achieved in its hydraulic systems. Tests were carried out to establish if a drive would be a viable option for controlling energy consumption. When an ABB industrial drive was installed on a hydraulic pump, a 70% energy saving was successfully reached.

  • The impact of the US Energy Policy Act on the pumps industry
While the US Energy Policy Act of 2005 focused mainly on alternative energy sources, reducing dependence on foreign sources of oil and increasing domestic energy production, its emphasis on energy efficiency has had a direct effect on pump users and manufacturers. Blackmer's Tom Stone explores how the legislation has influenced day-to-day operations.
  • High-speed milling of large impellers
In the past, technical limitations have meant the high-speed machining of precision parts has been restricted to smaller, highly-dynamic machines. Challenging this, Sulzer Innotec has created large impellers for compressors on 5-axis milling machines.
  • A brief history of pumps
Ten years ago, World Pumps put together a brief history of the pump industry telling the story of pump development since the Egyptians invented the ‘shadoof’ in 200BC. We stopped then at 1999, but here we bring the story right up to date with some of the main industry events of recent times.
  • Energy savings in pump systems
In this third in a series of articles on energy savings in pumps, Hans Vogelesang of PumpSupport considers the factors that should be borne in mind when designing piping systems. Many issues should be examined to ensure that a system will operate in an energy-efficient manner, both at design capacity and at partial load.

Mouvex Enterprise compressors for oil-free high-pressure discharge of fluids

05 February 2010

Constructed of corrosion-resistant, hard-coated cast iron, the Enterprise series of rotary vane compressors from Mouvex are designed for use with fluids that can cause operational problems for cargo pumps

The Enterprise series of rotary vane compressors from Mouvex have a maximum pressure rating of 36 psig. A blade-inspection port on the E106 model offers easy inspection without the need to remove the compressor from service.

Accessories for the Enterprise series of rotary vane compressors from Mouvex include an inlet air-filter kit, a discharge pressure check/relief valve, PTO drive flange, hydraulic motor drive adaptor and hydraulic drive cooler.
