  • Drive system for caisson refurbish
As part of the upgrade of a busy European port, the lock's caissons had to be refurbished. A weatherproof pump was required which would empty the caissons within a three hour window of opportunity. The supplied pump achieved this without the expense of having to take the lock out of service.
  • Retrofitting variable speed drives in a zoo
A UK zoo required a systems upgrade to comply with EMC directives and standards whilst simultaneously increasing efficiency. Three animal enclosures were retrofitted with variable speed drives from Danfoss which improved animal welfare and reduced running costs.
  • Smooth installation of a diesel fire package
When Carpetright decided to amalgamate its distribution sites into one large warehouse, it needed to become fire compliant with minimum site traffic and a low risk of project delays. An off-site manufacture approach by Armstrong provided the answer and enabled the project to run more smoothly with less contractors onsite.
  • Green buildings need drive to meet new regulations
The concept of sustainable buildings is beginning to gather pace, at least in part, and moves in the UK such as the new Building Regulations Part L2 have heightened energy consciousness. However, warns Kevin Jones of Schneider Electric Services and Projects, there remains the need for architects, building services engineers and those commissioning buildings to have a better understanding of the roles different equipment can play.
  • Energy savings from inverter drives in the efficient building
As our energy reserves dwindle while costs continue to rise and as the spectre of climate change looms ever larger, it becomes ever more imperative to take action on energy savings. Recent legislation is now making the route of no-action impossible. Danfoss' John Martin, strategic business area manager, HVAC put the case forward for intelligent inverter speed control of fans and pumps in buildings.
