Positive displacement pumps are still the preferred choice for metering highly corrosive and caustic chemicals. However, when it comes to reducing life-cycle costs, Chuck Treutel, P. The systems’ twin-screw feeder supplies a constant, pressurized feed rate to the pump, resulting in a 100% pump cavity fill rate.

Modern reverse osmosis desalination plants operate with high base load capacity and therefore the mechanical reliability and efficiency of high-pressure membrane feed pumps deserve thorough consideration. Production losses due to mechanical failure or higher energy consumption due to lower hydraulic efficiency can be significant factors in the plant operating costs. Miguel Angel Rivas, product portfolio manager for Sulzer Pumps, discusses the options available.

Moyno develop progressive cavity pump for wineries

03 March 2010

Moyno has developed a progressing cavity pump designed for winery applications such as pump overs, pumping high fining solids or a tote of crushed grapes.

The progressive cavity pump from Moyno is also suitable for transfer, stems and seeds removal, bottling, racking, yeast induction/removal and juice transfer.

The Winery pump has a gentle pumping action and is portable. The pump features a built-in auger feed, which eliminates the need for a separate feed mechanism. The progressive cavity pump from Moyno is capable of pumping up to 20 tons of must or whole clusters per hour.
