Modern reverse osmosis desalination plants operate with high base load capacity and therefore the mechanical reliability and efficiency of high-pressure membrane feed pumps deserve thorough consideration. Production losses due to mechanical failure or higher energy consumption due to lower hydraulic efficiency can be significant factors in the plant operating costs. Toyo pumps cope with light slurry demands

21 April 2010

Toyo has added two new pumps to its GR range, which are suitable for slurries with specific gravity of 1.15 kg/dm³.

GR pumps from Toyo include an agitator along with technical specifications adapted to the density of medium slurries, and the newest GR30 and GR30B also have a self cooling system. The pumps can operate when partially immersed but also at depths up to 30 m, in liquids with temperatures up to 60°C and pH values between 4 and 9.5.

The pumps from the GR range are equipped with a built in thermal protection, a class F motor, double mechanical seals working in an oil bath and an adjustable wear plate. Their pumping capacity and head, at duty point, are 90 m³/h at 30 m for the GR30 and 192 m³/h at 19 m for the GR30B.

Toyo GR pumps are suitable for duties in sedimentation tanks for mineral products, in quarries for handling stone cutting waters and in ceramic sawing for mud-silts treatment as well as in ready-mixed concrete, cement and chalk factories.
