Morris site machinery provides flooding solution

Stockton Council prides itself in delivering effective services whilst representing good value for money to its residents. Like many local authorities, the Council currently faces unprecedented financial challenges and great consideration is given when purchasing new equipment.

Recognising the importance of good flood risk management, Stockton Council was looking to purchase two water pumps to ensure it could act quickly and efficiently in response to a flood.

Requirements

According to Stockton Council Operations Manager, Robert Burrell, even the smallest flood can cause a great deal of damage to a property so when a flood happens the Council’s response must be both quick and effective.

“When an area floods it is vital we act quickly to minimise disruption and distress to property owners and other services. We were finding that our suppliers were unable to provide pumps when we urgently needed them, so we decided to purchase two of our own,” said Rob Burrell.

Solution

After previously hiring Hilta pumps, Stockton Council turned to Morris Site Machinery for guidance, and invested in two Hilta C150 Pro-Flo, 6” super silent automatic vacuum priming pumps.

Manufactured in the UK by Morris Site Machinery, Hilta automatic priming water pumps are ideal for all flood and emergency situations. The pumps have silenced canopies to reduce noise disruption and are available on road tow for easy transportation to site.

Designed for use in any application for the moving or removal of high volumes of water and with a 180 litre capacity fuel tank, the pump can run for up to 33 hours (on 70% load), whilst users of the Hilta C150 Pro-Flo can save time and resources by avoiding frequent refuelling. Its high performance from low fuel usage also offers considerable cost savings to customers.

“The C150’s silent function was a key selling point for us as it means we are keeping noise to a minimum when we are at work. It is also extremely portable, which means we can quickly and easily move on to a wide variety of sites,” added Rob.

Results

“With so much flood misery experienced last year, we believe Stockton’s residents will see this as a welcome investment. Since they were purchased earlier this year, the pumps have been used in a very wide variety of situations and locations, providing instant response and reassurance in a flood situation,” concluded Rob Burrell.
