According to McIlvaine Co estimates, US$732 million will be spent by drinking water plants on cartridges, US$1500 million on liquid macrofiltration and US$1701 million on cross-flow membrane systems, which are finding increasing use in purifying drinking water because of their high efficiency.
The market for valves will be worth US$3451 million while expenditures on treatment chemicals will exceed US$4.6 billion this year.
Drinking water plants will spend just under US$6 billion this year on pumps. The transfer of raw water to the plants and the distribution of the drinking water to residential, commercial and industrial users involve hundreds of billions of gallons of water per day.
