Duperon recently released it Dual Augur System (DAS) for pump clogging caused by flushable wipes and other debris, which uses three Duperon proven technologies to remove them at or near where they enter the collection system.

Flushable wipes do not degrade in the collection system and cause considerable problems in wastewater treatment plants.

The new DAS is a mechanical solution that can be easily installed even in small man-holes. Vertical dual augurs lift wipes and other debris at source. Then a flexible bar screen captures the debris, cleaning itself without the need for additional brushes or liners. Finally, a discharge extension chute conveys solids to the surface where they can be safely disposed.

The DAS captures, dewaters, compacts and conveys solids in a single system. It has completely contained screenings for odour control and aesthetics. A built-in bypass eliminates sewer back-up during power outages.

Mark Turpin, president of the Duperon Corporation, said that, during alpha testing in the city of Saginaw, Michigan, potential cost savings of more than US$40,000 in annual labour were revealed.
