Grundfos at SIWW

Grundfos will be presenting new and enhanced optimised water solutions for water supply, water treatment and flood control applications.

Optimised Water Solutions for efficient water & energy use

For drinking water distribution, Grundfos demand driven distribution packages pumps, intelligent components and system surveillance to build unique pressure management solutions that minimise water losses, reduce energy consumption and minimise operational costs for leaks and pipe maintenance.

The new demand driven distribution controller connected to network pressure sensors via the wireless network allows control of the pumps in accordance with data logged on a daily basis using an adaptive control algorithm. The measured data are then used for adaptive control of the pumping station, keeping the pressure in the network at the desired value and maintaining proper operation.

Precision on-site disinfection reduces risk of infection

Grundfos offers a variety of disinfection systems to ensure appropriate disinfection for a range of applications. One of these is Oxiperm Pro chlorine dioxide generators, which offers chlorine dioxide preparation and dosing for diluted and concentrated components, ensuring effective disinfection and reliable performance. These chlorine dioxide generators also provide protection from infection by legionella bacteria, which costs about two million working days lost to illness in Asia every year.

SMART Digital (DDA, DDC and DDE) diaphragm dosing pumps offer modularity with fewer variants, making them a perfect pump for stock. Simple to operate, easy to set up and with a straightforward navigation menu, SMART digital also offers flow intelligence, which gives operational safety and precision. All this contributes to keeping life cycle costs low, and these intelligent dosing pumps can be applied to industrial water treatment processes that need chemical dosing, such as CIP, pH adjustment, RO, filtration, and coagulation/flocculation.

Optimised solutions for flood control and wastewater

Grundfos has developed new ways of managing and protecting against flood events, for example integrated management systems for stormwater retention tanks and floodgates, where pumps are integrated into the floodgate.

Grundfos is ready with optimised KPL axial-flow and KWM mixed-flow pumps for flood control applications. These heavy-duty pumps offer best-in-class hydraulic efficiency of up to 85%, market-leading lightweight design and strong non-clogging capabilities. Used in these pumps is the Turbulence Optimiser (patent pending), an innovative solution for reducing turbulence in the gap between the pump volute and the column pipe that increases efficiency by 2%.

The KPL axial-flow pump is part of the comprehensive flood control solution at the low-lying area of Irla, a suburb of Mumbai, India, where a floodgate can be closed when tidal pressure is high. Stormwater is led to a dedicated flood control pumping station with eight 500 kW KPL axial flow pumps that handle flows up to 6 m3/second at 6m head per pump.
