Germany’s HOMA Pumpenfabrik GmbH and India’s EKKI Pumps have signed an agreement to set up a wastewater focused joint venture pump company in India to serve the domestic and neighbouring markets.

As part of the joint venture, HOMA and EKKI are also looking at setting up a new manufacturing facility in India.

The equal equity long-term joint venture is designed to bring to India and neighbouring markets a range of highly efficient and reliable German quality wastewater pumps and systems. It will also strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India”, “Clean India” and “Skill India” mission.

The new partnership will enable HOMA to significantly expand its global reach, while EKKI will gain access to the Homa brand, and its cutting edge wastewater pumping systems.

“We are delighted to seal this strategic JV with EKKI,” said Dr Klaus Hoffmann, chief executive of HOMA Pumpenfabrik GmbH. “HOMA is strengthening its international presence with its joint venture in India and the construction of a new plant in Germany is underway. The expansion of its international operations allows HOMA to develop an increasingly flexible, agile and efficient global strategy to be future ready.”

“The strategic partnership with the global wastewater pump leader HOMA is another major milestone in our march towards best in class pump manufacturing in India,” said Kanishka Arumugam, chief executive of EKKI Group. “The signing of this alliance with Homa reflects the trust in our capability and heritage as a high quality pump producer from India.”

The new joint venture will have Dr Klaus Hoffmann as chairman of the board and Kanishka Arumugam as chief executive supported by HOMA’s Vasileios Petridis and EKKI’s Arumugam Periasamy as board members.

The alliance will operate independently within the EKKI Group.
