Following this week's high profile IFAT 2014 event, Messe München is expanding its international trade fair network in the environmental technology sector with an additional event in South Africa.
The “IFAT Environmental Technology Forum – Water, Sewage, Refuse and Recycling – Solutions for the Mining and Construction Industry” will take place for the first time in South Africa during 15-18 September 2015 co-located with the Bauma Conexpo Africa trade show which made its debut in September last year, attracting 60 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors.
Messe München International and its subsidiary MMI South Africa (Pty) Ltd. are organising the event. Gerhard Gerritzen, deputy managing director of Messe München, commented on the opportunities of the market.
"Mining in South Africa is one of the 'key waste contributors'; according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD),'' he said. ''Approximately 315 million tons of waste – mainly contaminated sewage – must be disposed of every year. The IFAT Environmental Technology Forum picks up from there and brings suppliers and consumers of innovative solutions and technologies in the areas of water, sewage, refuse and recycling together."
The forum will also be supported by an adjacent exhibition, and organisers expect area occupancy of around 3,000 square metres as well as 60 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors. The co-location with the already successfully established International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles is sure to provide substantial synergy effects for both exhibitors and visitors. In spite of site-dependency to Bauma Conexpo Africa, the IFAT Environmental Technology Forum will be a component of the IFAT brand of events.
The key thems of the event are water and sewage treatment, water distribution and sewers, refuse disposal, air pollution control, noise reduction, measuring, control and laboratory technology, as well as services such as science, research and technology transfer.
