Xylem manufactures 4 millionth Flygt wastewater pump

The 4 millionth Flygt wastewater pump will support the central pumping station at Azaibah in Muscat, Oman which pumps wastewater across eight km to the Al Ansab treatment plant.

Xylem’s Flygt brand has a 100 year legacy in pumping, from developing the first submerged pumps to designing the non-clogging N-impeller, to producing wear resistant hydraulics. The very first Flygt pump was manufactured at Xylem’s factory in Emmaboda. Flygt pumps are also produced at Xylem manufacturing sites in China, India, the USA and Argentina.

Tomas Brannemo, Xylem senior vice president and president of Transport, said: “As the original submersible wastewater pump, the Flygt pump transformed the wastewater industry and we have continued to innovate since that time. We are very proud of the brand’s rich heritage and this 4 millionth Flygt wastewater pump will play a key role in supporting a sustainable environment in Oman.”

Saud Salim Ambusaidy, senior maintenance manager, Haya Water - Oman, said: “Producing 4 million wastewater pumps at this facility is a testament to the illustrious legacy of Xylem’s Flygt brand and the significant impact this brand has had, and continues to have, on solving water issues worldwide. This central pumping station is a crucial part of the sewage system in Oman - we need reliable, robust pumps to ensure that we provide a dependable service. Since 2006, Xylem has supported us to do this and we are confident that the company will continue to facilitate an efficient water service into the future.”
