In 2013, European equipment rental company Ramirent purchased 50 Atlas Copco WEDA on-site submersible pumps for its regional branch in Poland. The order is part of a total of 400 new pumps that will replace older equipment.

Ramirent’s first order of 50 Atlas Copco WEDA pumps consists of 19 WEDA 10, 19 WEDA 30 and 12 WEDA 40 pumps. These electric submersible pumps have been developed for dewatering construction sites, mines, flooded areas, etc. and can handle dirty water with abrasive particles.

Before the end of 2014, Ramirent plans to order a total of 400 new pumps, normally to be fulfilled by two suppliers, to update its regional fleet of 800 electric submersible and petro-driven pumps. Ramirent’s rental customers in Poland are mostly active in the construction and mining industries.

Ramirent in Poland already uses Atlas Copco compressors and generators in its rental fleet. In 2011, the Slovakian branch placed a significant order of WEDA pumps as well. That proved a deciding factor in making the switch to WEDA pumps in Poland.

Harsh environment

“The main advantage of Atlas Copco equipment is quality. We have been using Atlas Copco pumps in other countries, so we have firsthand experience of the durability and long lifetime of these pumps in harsh environments,” says Konrad Murawko, Fleet Manager at Ramirent.

Abet Cantuba, Product Marketing Manager Pumps for Atlas Copco Portable Energy explains that for Atlas Copco the role of preferred partner for rental companies is a deliberate one. “There is no conflict of interest or competition, as we don’t rent pumps ourselves and have no plans to start doing so. We are seeing an increasing number of rental companies that consider this a key condition.”

The compact size and low weight of the WEDA pumps (12.5kg for WEDA 10) facilitates transportation, installation and storage. Each pump has been delivered with a Storz discharge coupling, built-in float switch and an additional rope to prevent customers pulling out cables when maneuvering the pump.
