Grundfos CEO Mads Nipper has been appointed chairman of the Danish government’s climate partnership for production companies.
Production is one of 13 climate partnerships recently announced by the government.
As chairman of the climate partnership for production companies, Nipper will make a roadmap that will show the way for the sector’s CO2 reductions towards 2030. Denmark is aiming to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 from 1990 levels.
“Since 1990, greenhouse gas emissions from production companies have halved in Denmark. This is a trend, we must carry on – we just have to be more ambitious,” said Nipper.
“We must be visionary and create innovative solutions for the benefit of all, and this is only possible if the government, industry, the sectors and all parties of the labour market work together. At the same time, we must ensure the involvement of companies as well as trade unions and other stakeholders,” added Nipper.
A number of Danish companies already make products and solutions that contribute to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Nipper will work to promote these companies both in Denmark and abroad.
“As companies, we are part of society, and as a result the challenges of Denmark are also our challenges. Through a broad collaboration with politicians, the business community and the trade union movement, we can develop green solutions that are socially balanced, and which can secure future work places, welfare and prosperity,” said Nipper.
