IFAT highlights events at the water show

The events are: VDMA Practical Days A series of "Practical Days" organized by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) on the open-air site at the exhibition center (P3, to the west of the North Entrance). Here visitors can see – live and in action – a range of shredders and sorting machines from different manufacturers.   VAK Trucks in Action A demonstration of modern, special-purpose vehicle solutions. This is an opportunity to review, in action, all the latest developments in vehicles for waste collection and disposal, street cleaning and winter road services, plus diverse other specialized functions.   Research & Education Area 20 universities and colleges will be presenting broad-ranging insights into the training and education activities that are shaping the environmental technology of tomorrow.   UN Water Center UN-Water coordinates the activities on the subject of water of more than two dozen UN organizations and programmes, supporting them in achieving their goals and securing the success of their work. At IFAT ENTSORGA, UN-Water, together with its member and partner organizations, will be presenting the various programs and explaining their focus. Water is Future Spread over five "theme stations" and boasting a number of special exhibits, this display will present an in-depth review of the threats to water supplies and of ways in which this vital resource can be protected.   100 years of municipal cleansing In this special exhibition in the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München (Foyer, 1st floor, south side, northern wing, via West Entrance) there will be a special exhibition of vintage vehicles and equipment used in municipal cleansing.

Skills contest The first Open German Championship in Wastewater Engineering is being organized by the DWA (Deutsche Vereinigung für Wasserwirtschaft, Abwasser und Abfall e.V.), the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste; it is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and supported by Dräger. The championships are divided into the disciplines of trainees, sewer professionals and wastewater treatment plant specialists. This skills contest takes place in the Atrium between Halls A1 and B1.   Meeting Point PUMPS For the second time Pumpe DE is organizing the Meeting Point PUMPS in Hall A6. This 80-m2 joint stand is a quality meeting point for all trade visitors working in the fields of production, research and development and applications for pumps and pump systems.   Phosphorus recycling In June 2012 the German Environment Ministry will be looking at a national and regional strategy for recovering phosphorus, based on an initiative primarily from Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The Bavarian Minister of the Environment, Dr. Marcel Huber, will be reporting on this.
