Paal Kibsgaard, currently the Schlumberger chief operating officer, will succeed Gould as CEO.
Gould will continue as chairman of the Schlumberger board until the company’s annual general meeting in April 2012. The Schlumberger board intends to select the current independent lead director, Tony Isaac, to be the new non-executive chairman.
