The acquired business will operate as Watson-Marlow Co Ltd, within the Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG), and will be headquartered in Tokyo.
The acquisition will provide WMFTG with a direct sales presence in the Japanese market for the first time. It will also strengthen the level of service and support available to WMFTG customers in the Japanese food and beverage and industrial process markets.
Jay Whalen, president of WMFTG, said: “We recognize that the Japanese market has significant opportunities for growth for our market-leading products. The acquisition of this business from PRIMIX strengthens Watson-Marlow's position in the hygienic pump market where we are able to offer applications expertise and provide 'added-value' to customers.”
For a 3-year transition period, the new company will be co-branded Watson-Marlow PRIMIX. Hisashi Fuirichi, the CEO of PRIMIX, is taking a directorship role in the new company to ensure a smooth transition and to provide continuity during the transitional 3- year period.
