The four-day event will feature five key solid waste industry events and includes symposia and technical sessions covering the prominent topics of the industry. As a by-product, landfill gas is a useful source of energy but the siloxane content of these gases can cause pre-mature failures of oxygen sensors and other components that play a vital role in regulating the flow rate of fuel to an engine. This reduces the engine’s reliability, efficiency, affects a generator’s output, and can incur additional costs to operate. Furthermore, the strict emissions regulations that cover such engines may be compromised and add further challenges to an already complex situation. Sulzer says it has developed a turnkey bundle that can be used in conjunction with an existing engine control system to improve engine performance and reliability. The bundle consists of an advanced engine control system combined with the latest catalysts to help reduce emissions, increase engine efficiency, and improve engine reliability.
