John Crane Asset Management Solutions has secured a major contract to provide condition-based maintenance (CBM) services for an oil refinery in Texas, USA.

Under the contract, John Crane Asset Management Solutions personnel will be deployed to the Texas refinery from the company’s operational offices in Aberdeen, UK and Pasadena, Texas.

“This is a significant win for the company, expanding our business in the United States,” said John Morrison, managing director of John Crane Asset Management Solutions. “Our staff will be working closely with the plant’s personnel to build up knowledge and processes before moving on, thereby leaving a legacy where the plant can leverage best practice and continue to deliver business value.”

John Crane is developing a reliability-based maintenance strategy for cost effective equipment operation and increased performance, based on the plant’s requirements.

The company will inspect the vibration and lubrication of equipment, assess conditions and data and make recommendations. The work also includes generating alerts to allow for planning and scheduling repair work, providing recommendations for maintenance or repair of equipment and increasing frequency inspections.

John Crane will also help train the refinery’s personnel to ensure they have in-depth and practical knowledge in leadership, data collection, project liaison, maintenance strategies and performance trending.

Last year, John Crane Asset Management Solutions secured a contract to supply Maersk Oil with data services to support the planned maintenance strategy at one of the largest new developments in the UK North Sea. The company was also awarded a five-year contract to provide condition based maintenance services with a major oil and gas operator in the UK North Sea.
